EHIC Application

An EHIC Card is FREE from the UK NHS. There are websites charging around £20 to administer your application for you if you so choose but you can apply free directly on the NHS website either for a new EHIC or EHIC renewal.

You will need your National Insurance (NI) Number. You will probably find this on our latest payslip.

Cards are issued in around 10 days.

EHIC Renewal

An EHIC card is valid for up to 5 years from the date of issue. You can renew it up to 6 months before its expiry date. Renewal is FREE OF CHARGE. Any time left on your current card will not be added onto the renewed one. Make sure you check the expiry date on your card before you travel and that it will not expire whilst you are on holiday. Go to the link above to renew your EHIC directly through the NHS online form. You will need your National Insurance (NI) Number. You will probably find this on our latest payslip.
